Mayra has been educating Mixco’s kids for more than 20 years. After overcoming a divorce and losing her center, the community didn’t want her to leave so they helped Mayra find a new place to re-open Jardín Secreto’s doors. Unfortunately, the infrastructure of the new place is lacking and puts the kids' safety in danger. There is no proper ceiling, and in the rainy season water gets through the classrooms and ruins some of the material.
Mayra is educating 26 future professionals, the majority of parents are paying around $20 a month, two of them have a special discount and two others are being sponsored by others. Jardín Secreto is the only inclusive center in the area, receiving 4 children with special needs that are welcomed and cherished among their classmates.
With yours and our support, Mayra will be able to create a safe space for twice as many children as she currently has. She will also begin to use a Montessori philosophy to allow children to reach their developmental potential. Join us in this new project by laying your brick on this project.
